No matter what causes back pain, an important part of its treatment is improvement of posture and learning to use the body correctly. Good posture allows the use of the body without strain on muscles, joints, ligaments and internal organs. Good posture must be considered in all activities: sitting, standing, resting, working, playing and exercising. It is not simply a matter of “standing tall.”
This guide is designed to help you begin to correct the positions and movements which may be aggravating your back problem. Particular emphasis is placed on rest positions, because even in these positions it is possible to strain the neck and back. By learning to live with good posture in all your activites, your back will gradually return to a comfortable, functional part of you.

Chiropractic education is every bit as comprehensive as is medical school education. Before being accepted by a chiropractic college, students must have completed a minimum of two years of undergraduate work with a heavy emphasis on basic sciences.
Once in chiropractic college, the four-year course of study is longer than that required of most medical students.

This comparison chart is based on the review of curriculum catalogues from eleven chiropractic colleges and twenty-two medical schools in the United States. It clearly shows that chiropractors are among the best trained health practitioners you can find. Please note that chiropractic schools study both geriatrics and pediatrics, while eye, ear, nose, throat and dermatology are combined with diagnosis.
After students have acquired the necessary foundation of knowledge during the early part of their schooling, they later focus on specialized subjects, including chiropractic philosophy and practice, along with chiropractic diagnosis and adjusting techniques that aren’t taught in any other health care field.
In addition to classroom and lab work, each student chiropractor must complete a period of internship during which students care for patients under the close supervision of instructors. This is often followed by an ex-ternship program during which students assist field chiropractors in their offices. Since these students don’t yet have degrees and licenses, they don’t adjust spines. They are there to assist, observe and learn.
Before obtaining their degrees, all students, must complete approximately nine-hundred hours of work in the clinic setting. Because chiropractic students don’t have to spend time studying pharmacology or surgery, as their medical counterparts do, they are given additional training in anatomy, nutrition, diagnosis, palpation, X-ray and a variety of adjusting techniques. In fact, chiropractic students log more educational hours in these subjects than their medical counterparts.
After new chiropractors have graduated, they must then pass a state license exam in any state where they wish to practice. Most graduates take the National board of Chiropractic Examination which tests the doctors’ knowledge in many areas. These particular tests are so comprehensive that most states now accept them as the state license exam. In addition, a Doctor of Chiropractic must also pass a practical exam and interview conducted by the State Board of Chiropractic examiners in the state where they are seeking a license.

This is the neck looking at it from the side view. A normal person should have a normal forward curve. Notice this neck is too straight (military neck). A loss of the cervical lordosis (forward curve) will predispose this person to early spinal decay and degeneration.

Notice the curve now. Results will vary depending on:
1. How long the problem has been there, and;
2. Whether or not the patient is following the Dr.’s instructions.
This person feels much different now. Better! You could, too…
Most people don’t even know they have any spinal sublaxation. They just go to their M.D. and get prescriptions to take care of auxiliary symptoms of spinal mis-alignment. M.D.’s do their job for infection, pain pills and/or surgery, and Chiropractic Doctors help heal the real cause of many pain inducers and other chronic health problems. Both are integral parts of your health care management.
You’ll find that Chiropractic will also help you maintain your immune system and health, so you’ll have fewer visits to the M.D. for infection or infectious diseases…and fewer prescriptions, which can reduce your resistance and make antibiotics ineffective for you…Go for the NATURAL health care choice…
